Zibramax
Composition :
Each film-coated caplet ZIBRAMAX® contains Azithromycin dehydrate equivalent to Azithromycin 500 mg
Pharmacology :
- Azithromycin is a macrolide or azelide with usefulness and cooperation with erythromycin, but has greater activity than erythromycin for gram-negative bacteria such as Haemophyllus influenzae and Moraxella catarrhalis and also has activity for some enterobacteries such as Escerichia coli, Salmonella and Shigella spp.
- Azithromycin has activity forToxoplasma gondii also
Indication :
- Lower respiratory tract infection which caused by Haemophyllus influenzae, Moraxella catharralis or Streptococcus pneumoniae
- Alternative treatment upper respiratory tract infection are Streptococcal pharingitis/tonsillitis caused by Streptococcus pyogenes in patients who can not use the drug of choice
- Skin and tissue infection which caused by Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes or Streptococcus agalactiae
- Genital diseases: non-gonococcal urethritis and cervicitis caused by Chlamydia
Dosage :
- Taking together meals will reduce bioavailability by 50%. Therefore, as with other antibiotics, Azithromycin should be administered at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals
- Adult ( included elderly patients) :
For the treatment genital infections caused by Chlamydia trachomatis or sensitive to Neisseria gonorrhoeae: oral dose 1 gram as a single dose
- For other infections ie upper and lower respiratory tract infections as well as skin and tissue infections, the total dose is 1.5 grams for 5 days with an initial dose of 500 mg then 250 mg per day on the second day until the fifth day
