Ursolic

Composition :

Each capsule URSOLIC^® contains Ursodeoxycholic acid 250 mg

 

Pharmacology :

URSOLIC^® contains Ursodeoxycholic acid that acts by change cholesterol deposits into soluble cholesterol so that dissolution (melt) by stimulating the formation of lecithin cholesterol layer of liquid on the stone surface.

Emphasis on endogenous bile acids that stimulate hepatotoxicity (direct effect), direct cytoprotective effects on hepatocyte cells and modification of the immune system.

Ursodeoxycholic acid is hydrophilic has minimal detergent effect, by binding to the plasma membrane. Immunomodulatory effects are shown by decreasing abnormal HLA expression in hepatocytes.

Ursodeoxycholic acid administration in patients with gastritis reflux causes concentrations in gastric juice to increase so as to neutralize aggressive bile acids.

 

Indication :

• Gallstone with X-ray streaks with a diameter not exeed than 20 mm
• Patients who are at high risk or who refuse for gallbladder surgery
• Cholestatic liver disease

 

Dosage :

Adult : 8 – 10 mg/kg kg body weight/day divided into 2 or 3 doses, taken with milk or meal (usually given 250 mg in the morning and afternoon).

Drugs should be taken regularly, if administration is stopped for 4 weeks means treatment should start from the beginning.
