Ondane Injection

Composition :

Each ml ONDANE^® contain Ondansetron HCl equivalent with Ondansetron 2 mg

 

Pharmacology :

Ondansetron a 5 – HT3 receptor antagonist that works selectively and competitively in preventing and overcoming nausea and vomiting due to treatment with sitostatica and radiotherapy.

 

Indication :                                                                                          

Treatment nausea and vomiting due to chemotherapy and radiotherapy and surgery.

 

Dosage :

Treatment postoperative nausea and vomiting:

• 4 mg/i.m. as single dose or injection i.v. by slowly.

Pencegahan mual dan muntah karena kemoterapi :

* Afult:

–    Very emetogenic chemotherapy, example cisplatin. The forst injection Ondansetron 8 mg secara i.v. by slowly or infused for 15 minutes before given chemotherapy, followed with infuse 1 mg Ondansetron/hour for continuous for less than 24 hours or 2 injection 8 mg i.v. slowly or infused for 15 minutes at an interval of 4 hours. Or it could be followed by giving 8 mg orally twice daily for less than 5 days.

–     Less emetogenic chemotherapy, exaple cyclospamide. Injection i.v. 8 mg Ondansetron by slowly or infused for 15 minutes immediately before chemotherapy, followed by 8 mg orally twice daily for less than 5 days.

* Children > 4 years old :

5 mg/ml by i.v. for 15 minutes before given chemotherapy, followed by giving 4 mg orally every 12 hours for less than 5 days.

• Elderly :

Ondansetron can be well tolerated in patients over 65 without changing the dosage, frequency or mode of administration.

• Patients with impaired renal function:

Does not require daily dose adjustment, frequency or administration.

• Patients with impaired liver function:

Total daily dose should not exceed 8 mg.
