Leomoxyl Syrup

Composition:

Each 5 ml of LEOMOXYL® syrup contains Amoxicillin Trihydarte equivalent to 125 mg Amoxicillin

Each 5 ml of LEOMOXYL®Forte syrup contains Amoxicillin Trihydarte equivalent to Amoxicillin 250 mg

 

Pharmacology:

Amoxicillin is a semi synthetic and stable antibiotic penicillin in the stomach acid atmosphere. Amoxicillin is absorbed rapidly and well in the digestive tract of food, independent of the presence of food. Amoxicillin is primarily excreted in unchanged form in the urine. Excretion is inhibited when administration coincides with probenecid thus prolonging the therapeutic effect. Amoxicillin is active against gram-positive and gram-negative organisms.

 

Indication:

Infection caused by sensitive bacterial strains:

– Skin and soft-tissue infections: Staphylococcus is not a penicillinase producer, Streptococcus, E. coli.

– Respiratory tract infections: H. influenza, Streptococcus, Streptococcus pneumonia, Stafilococcus are

not penicillinase producers, E. coli.

– Infection of the genitourinary tract: E. coli, P. mirabilis and Streptococcus faecalis.

– Gonorrhea: N. gonorrhoeae (not penicillinase producer).

 

Dosage:

– Adult and children weighing> 20 kg: 250 mg – 500 mg every 8 hours.

– Children weighing <20 kg: 20 mg – 40 mg / kgBW / day in doses for every 8 hours.

– For patients with renal impairment, need to do dose reduction. In patients receiving peritoneal

dialysis, the recommended maximum dose is 500 mg daily.

– Gonococcus urethritis: Amoxicillin 3 gr as a single dose.

– Children over 8 kg are given dried syrup preparations.
