GP Fertil
Composition :
Each tablet GP-FERTIL® contains Clomifene citrate 50 mg
Pharmacology :
Clomiphene citrate is a drug with relatively specific activity on the system that affects the reproductive organs in both men and women. It has been shown in animal experiments that Clomiphene citrate has two effects, estrogenic and anti-estrogenic. Clinical trials with Clomiphene citrate show that it effectively causes ovulation in women and spermatogenesis in men. The mechanism resulting from ovulation induction by Clomiphene citrate is to increase FSH and LH in the blood by preventing inhibition of its secretion by estrogen and androgens. There is no clinical evidence that Clomiphene citrate has a progestational or androgenic effect. It is advantageous in the treatment of infertility due to lack of ovulation in women and oligospermia in men. Clomiphene citrate is easily absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract, slowly excreted by the liver through the bile duct and undergoing enterohepatic cycle. Biological half-life is in the range of 5 to 7 days.
Indication :
Clomiphene citrate is indicated for the treatment of infertility in women with amenorrhea, Stein-Leventhal syndrome, or functional uterine bleeding, which can lead to problems of lack of ovulation. The drug is also indicated to stimulate sperm production in infertility in men associated with oligospermia.
Dosage :
The recommended dosage in the treatment of anovulatory infertility is 1 tablet daily for 5 days, starting from the 5th day of the menstrual cycle or at any time during the amenorrhea event.
Ovulation usually occurs, between 6 to 10 days after the last dose of Clomiphene citrate. If ovulation does not occur, treatment is continued with a dose of 1 tablet 2 times daily for 5 days. If there has not been a pregnancy after 6 treatment cycles, treatment is not successful.
