Pharmacology:GENOLON® Cream is a combination of Gentamicin sulfate and Fluosinolone acetonide.Gentamicin sulfate, an aminoglycoside antibiotic, is bactericidal. Gentamicin sulfate works to inhibit bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the ribosome submit 30s irreversibly. In general, Gentamicin is active against most gram bacteria (-) and some grams (+). The invitro concentration of Gentamicin 1-8 mg / ml can inhibit Escherichia Coli, Haemophilus influenza, Moraxela lacunata, Neisseria, Proteus indole positive and indole negative, Pseudomonas (including Pseudomonas aeruginosa), Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermis and Serratia.Fluocinolone acetonide, a synthetic corticosteroid, which has anti-inflammatory, antipruritic and vasoconstriction and antimitotic properties in cutaneous fibroblasts and epidermis.Corticosteroids reduce inflammation by stabilizing leucocyte lysosomal membranes, preventing the release of decomptive acid hydrolysis from leucocytes, inhibiting macrophage accumulation in inflamed areas, reducing leukocyte adhesion to endothelium edema, reducing complement components, antagonizing histamine activity and kinin release of substrate, reducing fibroblast proliferation, deposition collagen and scar tissue formation.
