CIFLOS 500

Composition :

Each film coated tablet CIFLOS® 500 contains Ciprofloxacin hydrochloride which equivalent with Ciprofloxacin 500 mg

 

Pharmacology :

Ciprofloxacin is an fluoroquinolone antibiotic, it works with influence DNA gyrase enzyme on bacteria.

Ciprofloxacin is an antibiotic for gram negative bacteria and gram positive bacteria which sensitive to Ciprofloxacin.

The sensitive gram positive bacteria: Enterococcus faecalis, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Staphylococcus pyogenes.

The sensitive negative bacteria: Camphylobacter jejuni, Citrobacter diversus, Citrobacter fruendi, Enterobacter cloacae, Escherichia coli, Haemophyllus influenza, Klebsiella pneumonia, Morganella morganii, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Proteus mirabilis, Proteus vulgaris, Providencia netgeri, Providencia struati, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella typhi, Serratia marcescens, Shigella flexneri, Shigella sonnei.

 

Indication :

For infection therapy which caused by sensitive bacteria to Ciprofloxacin such as:

  • Urinary tract infection included prostatitis
  • Urethritis and cervicitis gonorrhoeae
  • Gastrointestinal tract infection, included typhois fever which caused by S. typhi. The efficacy Ciprofloxacin for eradication chronic typhoid carrier is unknown
  • Respiratory tract infection, except pneumonia which caused by Streptococcus
  • Skin and soft tissue infection
  • Bone and joint infection

 

Dosage :

Adults

  • Mild/moderate urinary tract infection: 250 mg, twice daily.
  • Severe bladder infection: 500 mg, twice daily.
  • Mild/moderate respiratory tract infection, bone, joint, skin, soft tissue: 500-750 mg, twice daily. Chronic prostatitis: 500 mg, twice daily.
  • Gastrointestinal infection: 500 mg, twice daily.
  • Acute gonorrhoeae: 250 mg, single dose.
  • For reach adequate concentration on acute osteomyelitis, dosage is not less than 750 mg, twice daily.

Duration therapy dependent with infection, clinical and bacteria response. For acute infection, duration therapy 5-10 days. The treatment must be continued until 3 days lose the clinical signs.

 

Dosage on patient with renal impairment:

If clearance creatinine below than 20 mL/minute, only given normal dose once daily or if given twice daily, the dose must be reduced a half.
