Zibramax (Dry syrup)
Composition :
Each 5 ml contains Azithromycin dihydrate equivalent with Azithromycin 200 mg
Pharmacology :
- Azithromycin is a macrolide or azelide with usefulness and cooperation with erythromycin, but has greater activity than erythromycin for gram-negative bacteria such as Haemophyllus influenzae and Moraxella catarrhalis and also has activity for some enterobacteries such as Escerichia coli, Salmonella and Shigella spp.
- Azithromycin has activity forToxoplasma gondii also
Indication :
- Lower respiratory tract infection which caused by Haemophillus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis or Streptococcus pneumoniae
- Alternative treatment upper respiratory tract infection are Streptococcal pharingitis/tonsillitis caused by Streptococcus pyogenes in patients who can not use the drug of choice
- Skin and tissue infection which caused by Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes or Streptococcus agalactiae
Dosage :
- Children:
There is no complete data on the use of Azithromycin in children under 6 months of age.
Total doses of 30 mg / kgBW should be administered at a dose of 10 mg / kgBW / day once daily for 3 days, or alternatively, given for 5 days with a dose of 10 mg / kgBW as a single dose on the first day, then 5 mg / kgBW Day 2 – 5.
Azithromycin powder for oral suspension can be given with or without food. Azithromycin suspension should be given in accordance with the dosage as below:

- In elderly patients: administration in elderly patients equals the dose administered in adult patients
- In patients with impaired renal function: In patients with mild to moderate renal impairment (glomerular filtration rate 10 – 80 ml / min): no dose adjustment is required, careful administration should be made when Azithromycin is administered to patients with severe renal impairment (glomerular filtration rate <10 ml / min)
- In patients with impaired liver function: Taking in patients with mild to moderate liver function diseases, same administration as in patients with normal liver function
Syrup Reconstitution :
Add 8 ml of boiled water, shake for 60 seconds. Once reconstituted, the suspension can be stored for 5 days at a temperature below than 250C without loss of potential meaning. Keep it closed. Do not use for more than 5 days after reconstitution
