Pharmacology :
Methisoprinol is a drug used to treat some infections caused by viruses. The way this drug works is by increasing the immune system, by increasing ribosomes and polyribosomes. Methisoprinol is a complex chemical compound formed from inosine and an aminoalcohol, dimethylamino-isopropanol, in a 1 : 3 ratio. Methisoprinol increases protein and nucleoprotein synthesis; protect the structure and function of polyribosomes; inhabit ribonucleases; strengthening the function of polyribosomes; blocks the genetic transfer of the virus to the polyribosomes of the body cells and in this way stops the multiplication of the virus. From clinical studies conducted by Argentinian researchers, non-specific and broad-spectrum antiviral activity was found (Ink, Antinini, Andres, Stefano and others).
