Maganol Infus

Composition :

Each ml of MAGANOL^® infusion contains Paracetamol 10 mg

 

Pharmacology :

The onset of action (onset) of the analgesic effect of Paracetamol infusion is 5-10 minutes. Peak analgesic effect is obtained within 1 hour and the duration of this effect is usually 4 – 6 hours. Paracetamol infusion reduces fever within 30 minutes with a minimum duration of antipyretic effect of 6 hours.

 

Indications:

Paracetamol infusion is indicated for the short-term treatment of moderate pain, particularly after surgery and for the short-term treatment of fever, when administration by the intravenous route is clinically necessary to treat pain or hyperthermia and/or when other routes of administration are not feasible.

 

Dosage and how to use:

Route of administration: intravenous infusion.

Paracetamol infusion in bottles of 50 ml is limited to children weighing 10 kg (approximately 1 year) to 33 kg and Paracetamol infusion in bottles of 100 ml is limited to adults, adolescents and children weighing more than 33 kg (approx. 11 years old ).

 

Dosage:

–      Adolescents and adults weighing more than 50 kg: Paracetamol 1000 mg (1 vial MAGANOL^® Infusion 100 ml) each dose, up to four times a day. The time interval between dosing is a minimum of 4 hours. The maximum daily dose should not exceed 4000 mg.

–      Children weighing more than 33 kg (about 11 years), adolescents and adults weighing less than 50 kg: Paracetamol 15 mg/kg (1.5 ml MAGANOL^® Infusion/kg) each dose, up to four times a day. The time interval between dosing is a minimum of 4 hours. The maximum daily dose is not more than 60 mg/kg (not to exceed 3000 mg).

–      Children weighing more than 10 kg (about 1 year) and weighing less than 33 kg: Paracetamol 15 mg/kg (1.5 ml MAGANOL^® Infusion/kg) each dose, up to four times daily. The time interval between dosing is a minimum of 4 hours. The maximum daily dose should not exceed 60 mg/kg (not to exceed 2000 mg).

–      Severe renal insufficiency (creatinine clearance 30 ml / min): it is recommended to increase the dosing interval to a minimum of 6 hours.

 

How to use :

–      Paracetamol solution is given as an intravenous infusion over 15 minutes.

–      Paracetamol infusion can also be dissolved in 0.9% Sodium Chloride solution or 5% Glucose solution to one tenth. In this case, use the diluted solution for one hour according to the proportions (including the time of infusion).

–      As for the infusion solutions packaged in glass bottles, it should be reminded that strict supervision is required, especially at the end of the infusion, regardless of the route of administration. Monitoring at the end of perfusion applies especially to the route of central infusion, to avoid the occurrence of embolism.

 

Storage :

Store at a temperature below 30ºC, protected from light. Do not store in the refrigerator or freeze.

Before use, perform a visual inspection for particulate contamination and discoloration. For single dose only. Use immediately after opening and throw away any unused solution. If dissolved in 0.9% Sodium Chloride or 5% Glucose, the solution should be used immediately. If the solution is not used immediately, keep it for less than one hour (including the infusion time).
