Leomoxyl 500

Composition:

Each LEOMOXYL® 500 capsule contains Amoxicillin Trihydrate equivalent to Amoxicillin 500 mg

Pharmacology:

Amoxicillin is a semi-synthetic penicillin antibiotic with a wide spectrum. For oral use, Amoxicillin is rapidly absorbed in the stomach and intestines. Amoxicillin is active against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms, except against the type of Staphylococcus type that produces penicillinase.

Amoxicillin is bound to about 20% by body protein, and its activity is not inhibited by serum. The absorption is as good as empty stomach or filled stomach, resulting in higher serum concentrations than ampicillin. Less than 60% of the amount absorbed will be excreted through the urine. The presence of probenecid inhibits urinary outflow, causing the serum amoxicillin level to increase.

Indication:

– Infections of the upper respiratory tract: tonsillitis, sinusitis, laryngitis, otitis media.

– Lower respiratory tract infections: acute and chronic bronchitis, bronchiasectasis, pneumonia.

– Infections of the urinary tract: cystitis, pyelonephritis.
