Coltin Syrup

Composition:

Every 5 ml (1 measuring spoon) of COLTIN® syrup contains Erdosteine 175 mg

Pharmacology:

Erdosteine pharmacologically works as a bronchial mucus thinning drug. Erdosteine is classified as a mucolytic drug. Erdosteine besides having properties as a bronchial mucus diluent making it easier expectoration, also shows an effect as an antagonist against the formation of “in loc” of free radicals and is very different from the work of ethalase enzymes. Pharmacological studies show that Erdosteine does not seem to have the above properties, but only metabolizes, turning into active metabolites having the –SH chemical group. These metabolites break down the –SH groups and cause a reduction in the elasticity and viscosity of the mucus, thereby facilitating expectoration. The –SH chemical group, differing in this activity, is chemically bound and becomes free only after metabolization or binding to alkalis. This property guarantees good tolerability without bad taste and without mercaptanic and good tolerability in the stomach.
